Apr. 1st, 2010 09:49 pmI hate this.
I want to go on about all the things I loved about this episode. How good Colin Ford was and how much I loved the fireworks. How awesome Ash was, how hurty the standford memory was, how Zachariah called Mary a milf, how Ash said they were goddamn soulmates.
But all I can hear is that clink in the bottom of an empty trashcan and the look on Sam's face.

Dude, I don't even know. The last part killed me, KILLED me. But it was still probably one of the best episode's in the series.

Date: 2010-04-02 06:39 am (UTC)It's not that I don't love this. That the writers actually put that in if what we're saying is all right. But I don't understand it either. I doubt if at any point they're going to say that yes, Sam and Dean are basically in love with each other, and maybe they're just trying to say not all soul mates are linked romantically, but generally that is the case. I would love if they were able to do it. If they've been working it in subtly and letting the people see it who wanted to because they WANTED us to, and then let us know with some sort of finality that isn't a "I think they just called them soul mates" moment where Dean and Sam just never talk about it. But I just don't see them letting us have that, so I'm sort of confused, maybe even apprehensive to fully accept it.
But if they ARE soul mates, which all signs point to YES, then Dean dropping the necklace, doesn't mean nothing, but he can't stop it. He can try, but he'll always be Sams' and Sam will always be his. That's all there is to it. They're in it forever. A package deal.
But you're right, Sam didn't want to admit that was the memory, I think because he knew Dean would be upset about it. But you're right. If Zachariah could do what he did in the last dream, he'd been angling the dagger at the weak point: Dean, all along and picking memories of Sam's specifically so it would build up inside Dean. I didn't even think about that. Thanks for pointing it out.
Definitely one of the best episodes.
