I hate this.

I want to go on about all the things I loved about this episode. How good Colin Ford was and how much I loved the fireworks. How awesome Ash was, how hurty the standford memory was, how Zachariah called Mary a milf, how Ash said they were goddamn soulmates.

But all I can hear is that clink in the bottom of an empty trashcan and the look on Sam's face.

See I thought they were soul mates too until I realized that Dean started out in a different place than Sam and he had to GO to Sam. But if you see it differently, please tell me, because I basically wanted to kiss the t.v. when Ash said that, and I didn't realize I interpreted it incorrectly until the very end of the episode.

And Dean. God, he's just so HURT, and sad, and there's so much wrong, and Sam's memories, Christ, they WERE awful. He's done this before. He won't let his Sammy go just like that. I mean, - I don't know that for sure. Because obviously the necklace is symbolic to their entire relationship. With they way he wouldn't give to Cas except the entire WORLD depended on it, and if Cas hurt it, lost it, he would FIND a way to kick this angel's ass, friend or not. But I think, I hope he's just dropping the ball, it'll bounce back up. I mean, they're the only one's for each other, and maybe he thinks he sees it breaking, or thinks he realized it was a lie, but Sam still knows, and he won't let Dean keep on that way.

I did just realize, however, that Dean actually started out with Sam. Maybe it was a younger Sam but it was still him. But I don't know what to make of Sam starting out with someone else's family. I can only assume that if we choose to believe they're soul mates, all of Sam's memories were directly connected to Dean emotionally, and therefore they were still sharing the same piece of heaven.

I don't know. I'm not going to even try to pretend I know what they're trying to do with heaven, but the look on Sam and Dean's faces when Ash mentioned soulmates was pretty telling. Dean did find Sam, but it was as easy as that, you know? Ash found a way to to manipulate the system, right?

And, I was discussing this with a friend, I wouldn't doubt it if Zachariah was fucking with their memories some. If that's even possible. IDK, IDK. Sam didn't seem all that pleased to see the Standford memory, imo.

Dude, I don't even know. The last part killed me, KILLED me. But it was still probably one of the best episode's in the series.

No I completely agree. The second Ash even started to answer, it was in hesitance, and then once he said it they were just like, "Right... Wow, okay, denying this right now." And that's an extremely good point. All of their roads lead to each others' memories, but Ash has to actually pull other people into his world.

It's not that I don't love this. That the writers actually put that in if what we're saying is all right. But I don't understand it either. I doubt if at any point they're going to say that yes, Sam and Dean are basically in love with each other, and maybe they're just trying to say not all soul mates are linked romantically, but generally that is the case. I would love if they were able to do it. If they've been working it in subtly and letting the people see it who wanted to because they WANTED us to, and then let us know with some sort of finality that isn't a "I think they just called them soul mates" moment where Dean and Sam just never talk about it. But I just don't see them letting us have that, so I'm sort of confused, maybe even apprehensive to fully accept it.

But if they ARE soul mates, which all signs point to YES, then Dean dropping the necklace, doesn't mean nothing, but he can't stop it. He can try, but he'll always be Sams' and Sam will always be his. That's all there is to it. They're in it forever. A package deal.

But you're right, Sam didn't want to admit that was the memory, I think because he knew Dean would be upset about it. But you're right. If Zachariah could do what he did in the last dream, he'd been angling the dagger at the weak point: Dean, all along and picking memories of Sam's specifically so it would build up inside Dean. I didn't even think about that. Thanks for pointing it out.

Definitely one of the best episodes.

It was definitely a "Wait...what?" moment. I was like, did he really just say what I think he just said? And then Dean and Sam got these looks on their faces, like in Playthings when they got accused of being "antiquers", so yeah. :p

It's interesting, to say the least.
