“He’s always around,” She whined, bubblegum pink fingernails tapping on the dash of the car. 

“He’s my little brother,” Dean told her, felt like the hundredth time he’d said it.  “My Dad’s away on business a lot, so I gotta look after him.”

“He’s fourteen, Dean.  He doesn’t need a babysitter. Can’t you just send him some where for a little while?”  She ran her index finger not-so-subtlety down the vee of her blouse. 

“Sorry, can’t,” Dean replied without hesitation, wincing when the passenger door slammed against the frame, two words hanging thick in the air. It’s over.

“Yeah, I’m on my way, Bobby. I‘ll be there soon.”

“Sam,…it…Dean…for…”

“Bobby? Listen man, you’re breaking up.  Let me…”

Sam flipped his cell phone shut, his reception suddenly the last thing on his mind.  Static buzzed from the car‘s radio, the dash lights fading in and out the closer he got to the junkyard.  He’d seen this before, two years ago outside a home in Salvation, Iowa. 

He barely slowed the Impala to thirty as he steered into the junkyard.  Bobby was waiting on the porch; he wasn’t wearing his hat.

Sam crumbled to the dirt. He was too late.

Priorities

I like how Dean makes Sam’s importance perfectly clear, how he has his priorities straight and he’s not willing to set them aside for some random girl. And yeah, I can see how a girl wouldn’t necessarily appreciate it.

Quarter till Midnight

I like the tense, creepy and then sad feel here. Is Dean back as a demon in this drabble?

Actually, in my head, Sam and Bobby had found a way, at the last minute, to get Dean out of the deal. But Sam didn't make it in time. =\

I totally misread it. :) For some reason I was thinking about the electrical storm thing that accompanied the demon showing up for Rosie in the "Salvation" ep, and then my mind wandered off in the wrong direction. Oops! :)

1. I love your details. The bubblegum pink nails and how she's really coming on to Dean. Very vivid. I love the way Dean never lets Sam out of his sight. Sam's fourteen?!LOL. It sounds like Dean.
2.The imagery of Sam crumbling to the dirt is awesome. So is Bobby without his hat, defeated and weary. Wonderful.
