Sam’s hands trembled.  He could feel the blood rushing in his ears, feel droplets of sweat slide down the back of his neck.  If he did this, there would be no turning back. 

Quickly, he scribbled across the dotted line in a handwriting that looked nothing like his own.

John Winchester.

He knew Dad was going to be pissed when he found out, but that afternoon he just ran, the wind his face and the ground under his feet.  Dean was waiting for him when he was done.

“I made the team.”

“Hope it’s worth it.”

It was. Every second.

Good job with the prompt. I like how Sam crosses that line with a little bit of nervousness but then doesn't regret it later. That's just what I'd expect from Sam at this age, to be wary of stepping out on his own but then realize he needs to do that, wants to do that, and it all leads to Stanford, of course.
