Sammy’s entertains himself on long road trips by reading license plates. “H-U-P-7-4-B,” He says as they pass a Volvo from Illinois. Dean turns around and glares at him; Sammy sticks his tongue out, but mouths the letters quietly until they reach their destination.

“S-t-a-r,” He reads each letter slowly, then puts it all together. “Stuh-ah-rrr. Star!”

“Hey kiddo, where’d you learn to read like that?” John grins proudly.

“Dean,” Sammy admits. “Reads to me every night.”

Dean slinks down into the seat, face red.  “S’just comic books.”

Sammy turns his attention to the shop next door.  “Dad, what’s X-X-X mean?”

Cute drabble! I really like how you used the prompt. I love that Dean taught Sam to read (and that Dean gets all embarrassed), and that last line is awesome. :)
