Four years. Four years and with Sam riding shotgun, bitching about the immoralities of hustling and scams, it barely feels like four days. Dean catches himself grinning for no reason in particular, feels his body thrum with a familiar energy whenever he and Sam discuss the hunt. Feels like family.

Sam’s constant reminders of Monday never reach Dean’s ears. He stops the car in California and is confused when Sam just leaves. Again. Doesn’t look back.  Dean’s knuckles split open when his fist makes contact with the dash, numb, like the black hole in his chest. 

Feels just like family.

Very nicely done. Great job going from the high of being back with Sam to the low of Sam walking away again. And I love how you repeated that line, "Feels just like family." Very effective.
