Winchesters VS Salvatores

1. Fuck This Prophecy/Catherine/Vampire Shit, You're My Brother and I Love You

The difference between Dean and Damon. Dean wears his heart on his sleeve like a great big neon flashing sign, practically having a panic attack in the middle of the street when he realizes Sam is gone, whereas Damon passes it off as being a somewhat minor inconvenience in his day. Or, you know, he tries really hard to.

While the Salvatore's don't necessarily get handsy as much as Sam and Dean have, it does happen. And keep in mind, this is only the first season. I can only imagine the awesomeness that awaits.

They save each other's asses:

Winchester Style:

In which Dean uses one of the precious Colt bullets to save Sam's life, knowing John would probably kick his ass into next Tuesday for, if he could. But Sam was getting the crap kicked out of him, so didn't hesitate.

Salvatore Style:

In which Stefon gets shot with a wooden bullet and Damon doesn't hesitate to rip his attacker's throat, then digs the wooden bullet out of Stefan's chest. Following it up with, "If anyone's going to kill you, it's going to be me." Whatever, Damon. Poker is not your game, sweetie.

Being Really Super Pissed Off that someone is trying to hurt their brother

Winchester Style:

"You do that to my brother, I'll kill you!"

Salvatore Style:

*is trying to kill you with his brain* Here's one of the biggest differences. Damon doesn't profess his love for Stefon on a daily/hourly basis the way Dean Winchester does. That's not how he rolls. Technically, he professes his hatred for him, but we all know what that means. Theirs is a seekrit love.

2. They both have baby brother's with a blood problem:

Contrast: Whereas Dean freaks out, calls Sammy a freak out nature for what he does, looks afraid of his own brother at Sam, Damon wants Stefan to give in, to embrace his animalistic nature and feed.

2. Driver Picks the Music, Shotgun shuts his Cakehole

They each have beautiful, classic cars. A 67' Imapala and a classic Camaro. Still unsure as to the year - Vampire Diaries is in series lack of its own wiki. Stefon has one even classic-er, no clue what it even is. But I like these two side by side.

3. The big brothers, well. I know what you are, baby

4. Their Dad's Are Both Kinda Dicks

And they're both hunters.

Compare: John's life mission is to kill the demon that took his wife. Guisseppe Salvatore spikes Stefan's drink with vervain, poisoning Catherine when she feeds from him. John Winchester tells Sam he if he leaves, to go to college, he can never come back. Damon says, "I never asked for your respect."
"Good for you," his father replies, "Because all I have is disappointment." Ouch. Daddy issues ftl.

Contrast: Guisseppe shoots and kills both of his sons for being vampire sympathizers. John Winchester gives up the Colt, not to mention his soul in order to save his son's life.

5. They Have This Rift Between Them

That will probably always be there.

For Sam and Dean, in my opinion, its Stanford. I thought about the chasm between them being Sam's demon blood, but Sam didn't choose that. What Sam chose was to leave them, leave Dean, go off to Standford for his own selfish reasons. Abandon them.

For Stefan and Damon, it will always be Catherine. For so many, many different reasons. Reasons, I don't think we've even seen yet.

Nevertheless, no matter how much it hurts them, no matter what hurtful things they may say or do to each other because of the things that happened in their past, they're still brothers and at the end of the day, they will still kick anybody's ass who tries to mess with their brother.
