In the end, it wasn't Lisa that he was in love with. It was the idea of love, of being the family man, of a life without monsters and demons, cleaning house instead of cleaning guns. It's what he wanted for him and Sam, together, that kind of normal, apple pie, picket fence world that just didn't exist for guys like them - hunters or not.
Soulmates, Ash had said and Dean knew they both had felt it when he said the word, this tightness tugging right at each of their centers. Only, it wasn't a surprise to hear it. It wasn't shocking or revolting or even laughable. It was just, a revelation.
Like, yeah, that sounds about right.
