Ps: This was originally for the 100_wonders challenge "hangover," but it got away from me and I couldn't bear to take anything out.

Peter makes mistakes. It's part of his genetic makeup, just like fixing them is part of Nathan's. The first time he gets absolutely wrecked at a party, he dials Nathan's number because that's what Nathan told him to do when he turned eighteen.

Call me. Do not call Dad. Do not drive yourself. I'll come get you, wherever you are. Do you understand?

Peter understood, that's the reason he's waking up in Nathan's bed in his dirty clothes and drool all over Nathan's one thousand count egyptian cotton sheets. His eyes are still closed when he feels the coolness of the back of Nathan's hand as it presses against his forehead. His head throbs like someone beat him in the back of it with a cricket bat, but stills the moment Nathan's hand touches it.

He doesn't open his eyes. He knows if he does Nathan will retract back into himself like always and Peter doesn't want to be alone right now. He needs Nathan to take care of him like he always does; no one else will. He needs Nathan more than he should. He thinks Nathan needs him too, needs to be needed. So he keeps his eyes closed and when Nathan whispers I wish I didn't love you so much before walking away, he thinks he's still asleep.
