Sam’s hands look small for the first time, trembling around the gun in his hand. The barrel is still warm as Dean eases it out of his grip.
His first kill.
Dean’s equates his first kill to the first time he had sex. He can remember how it felt, blood-pumping, strung out on adrenalin; it’s the details that get lost over the years.
“It looked like a person.” Sammy’s voice is quiet, scared. Dean remembers that too.
“Yeah, but it wasn’t.” He slides his hand up and down Sam’s back, presses his lips to Sam’s hair. “You did good, Sammy.”
