Interesting look at Dean while Sam was at Stanford. I especially liked this bit:
It made him so antsy, knowing that there was something he ought to be doing; it was driving him crazy. Hunting helped, but it was always there, like that feeling of leaving the stove on, only worse.
Yeah, it really had to get under Dean’s skin that Sam was out of his reach, away from his protection. Like Dean had lost his purpose but not really, his purpose was just harder to fulfill.
Aftertaste
Oh, Dean. Nifty and well-executed idea to have Dean pick up the M&M habit because they reminded him of Sam.
Favorite lines:
On the way out of town, he bought the biggest yellow bag he could find. Every bite of chocolate and peanuts left a bitter taste in his mouth. He ate them anyway.
