Title: We Both Go Down Together
Pairing: Sam, Dean; gen
Rating: PG-13
Words: 185~
A/n: This was supposed to be for the
winchesters100 prompt, but I screwed around with it for like, EVER and couldn't get it under 100 words and not hate it, so. Here we are. Its maybe a little AU? Or maybe its just a little weird, idek.
Each day is worse than before, not better.
Dean's mind works in reverse, remembering more from his little trip downstairs every morning he wakes, like the sound a soul makes when you reach inside and rip it open, instead of repressing it, burying it someplace dark and hidden inside of him.
Sam tries so hard it makes Dean hurt all over; he's never been so messed up that even Sammy couldn't fix it. Sam wants to know, Dean can see it on his face even if he won't say it out loud. Sam thinks he should know every detail of what happened to him in Hell, like that might somehow change things. Like it could change the fact that down there, after finally breaking down, after spending five hell-years playing on Alistair's team, something in him had changed.
Its a slippery slope, brother.
The power Alistair gave him in the pit is long gone, cleansed from his soul when Castiel reached in and pulled him out of the hellfire , but the rage is not. Dean can feel every ounce of it bubbling beneath the surface, trying to burst free. And when it does, God help them all.
